Google Pay saves users from CVV with biometrics

Google Pay has been revamped to let shoppers see their card's benefits, use BNPL on more sites, and use biometrics instead of CVV codes at checkout.

Those who use the autofill feature on Chrome or Android during checkout will now be able to autofill all card information with a fingerprint, face scan, or screen lock PIN and will not have to enter a CVV security code.

Google launched a pilot of BNPL with providers Affirm and Zip for online payments earlier this year. The app now covers more commercial sites and Android apps across the US. Shoppers can now link their existing accounts to these two platforms or sign up with a provider at checkout.

Finally, American Express and Capital One cardholders who pay on Chrome desktop will now be able to see a variety of benefits for specific cards in the autofill drop-down menu, making it easier for them to choose the best option. Google plans to roll out this feature for more cards in the future.
